Herbert Clay "Herb" Lieser Jr.

HERBERT CLAY LIESER, JR.
February 18, 1933 ˜ March 24, 2023

Herb passed away on March 24, at Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver.
He was the son of DR Herbert Lieser and Mary Lieser. He graduated from the University of Portland.
He married Billee Bullock in 1953. He was the father of two children, Christy S. Lieser - deceased and Brian C. Lieser - living in Ridgefield, WA.
Herb worked for Freightliner Truck Inc. for 35 yrs until his retirement in 1985.
He was a longtime member of the Clark County Saddle Club. And rode in the Sheriff Pose Drill. He was elected Captain of this team. Herb and Billee trained and raced Quarter Horses at most NW tracks for many years, winning the AQHA Derby at Portland Meadows in 1971.
Herb later married his wife DeDe Dunn in 1984. They traveled abroad after retirement. And visited 15 different countries. They also traveled within the states and visited several.
Herb started Umpiring in 1990. He also had his own teams of men’s, women’s, and coed slow pitch softball. His men’s team placed 3rd in 1993, and his women’s team placed first in 1994. He was also called up to umpire the Nationals in Mississippi in 1996.
He is survived by his wife DeDe, and numerous extended family including 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Herb was a very gentle and soft spoken man, and his son Brian does not remember his dad ever raising his voice.
