On May 3, 2023, Herbert L. Miller, Jr. age, 91 of Jesup, GA went to be with his Heavenly Father.
Herbert was born on October 30, 1931 in Baxley, Georgia to Herbert L. and Delilah (Medders) Miller, Sr. Herbert led a fulfilling life, serving his country as a member of the US Air Force and having a long and successful career in the electrical/lineman field with IBEW Local 508 and Local 702.
Herbert's upbringing involved working for his parents' bowling alley/restaurant on St. Simons Island. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge in northern Illinois, his hobbies included coaching and playing baseball, hunting, and fishing. He passed his love for these activities to his children and grandchildren.
On November 8, 1953 he married Mary Isabelle (Murphy) in Kingsland, GA. They relocated to Illinois in 1953 where they lived until his wife Belle passed away in 2004. He relocated to Jesup, GA in 2005.
Herbert is survived by his son William ‘Bill’ Miller and wife Bonnie of Brunswick, GA and daughter Debbie Miller and husband Jeffrey Wells of Colorado Springs, CO. Grandchildren Cortney Miller, Bucky Miller, Shelly Miller and Tim Paschal. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Tony Miller of Patoka, IL., his brother William (Doc) Miller of Baxley, GA and sister Yvonne (Miller) Spikes of Baxley, GA, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Herbert's life and legacy will surely be remembered by his family and loved ones.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. from the Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend James Minick officiating.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. from the Nobles Funeral Home Chapel.
