Herbert “Herb” N. Neils, 83, of Oostburg, WI, passed away unexpectedly on April 16, 2025, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, WI.
Herb was born on August 11, 1941, to Andrew and Frances (Trester) Neils. He graduated from Sheboygan North High School, class of 1961. He was united in marriage to Doris Hilbelink on May 22, 1971, at Gibbsville Reformed Church.
Herb was a proud member of Gibbsville Reformed Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He had a passion for yardwork, fishing, and woodworking, but above all, he cherished spending time with his beloved family. Herb served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966, achieving the rank of Private First Class. He worked at Dean's Food for 25 years before retiring from Alumaroll in 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; children: Brenda (Scott) Stoelb, Kurt (Tammy) Neils, and Stacy (Will) Said; grandchildren: Shaun Neils, Raven (Eric) Noss, Mckenna (Fiancé Ethan Rasmussen) Stoelb, Taylor Stoelb, Nicholas Stoelb, Noah Stoelb, Jaylen Said, William Said, Hunter Said, Autumn Neils, great-grandchild Jaxen Freyberg; brothers and sisters-in-law; Jean Neils, Harley (Jeanne) Hilbelink, Leslie (Bonnie) Hilbelink, Shirley Hilbelink, Rosemarie Hilbelink, Marion Rismeyer, Galen (Laura) Hilbelink; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law; siblings: Lucille (Fred) Dobrenz, Gary (Betty) Neils, Charles (Anita) Neils, Andrew (Pat) Neils, Bernadine (Walter) Hameister, Annette (Ray) Levan, Bernard (Louise) Neils, Judy Kurtz, Jean (Jerry) Crneckiy, Clarence Rismeyer, Harold Neils; siblings-in-law: Donald (Marlys) Hilbelink, Orville (Mary) Hilbelink, Clarence (Marcia) Hilbelink and Clifford Rismeyer.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 12:00pm at Gibbsville Reformed Church. Burial will take place at Gibbsville Cemetery with Military Honors.
Relatives and friends may greet the family for a time of visitation at the church on Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 10:00am until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Herbert's name.
