We rejoice in the homecoming of Joan Hollander, who is in the loving arms of her Savior. Joan passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Sheboygan Health Services. She was 88 years old.
Joan was born to Edward and Pearl (Lammers) Dekker on November 6, 1936, in Sheboygan. She went to Greene School and graduated from Oostburg High School in 1954.
On May 24, 1958, Joan was united in marriage to M. Jack Hollander at Hingham Reformed Church. Together they shared 67 wonderful years.
Joan was a member of Christ Community Church in Sheboygan for many years. She cherished time with friends and neighbors over coffee and breakfast. Joan valued all of her friendships and enjoyed being a part of Sheboygan Garden Club, card club at church, and Ruth Mission Society. Family was everything to Joan, she lavished them all with love and attention.
Joan is survived by her husband, M. Jack; children, Julie (Dan) McLaughlin and Jeffrey (Vickie) Hollander; grandchildren, Bradley Hollander, Mitchel (Emily) and their children, Lila and Louis, and Katherine (Eric) Lewis, Ian, Nicholas, and Adriana McLaughlin; sisters, Ann (Ivan) TeLindert, Kathline (Glen) Weavers, and Sharon (Mike) Geurts; and special sister Audrey (Ivan) Nyenhuis. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Leatrice (Robert) Van Tatenhove.
A funeral service to celebrate Joan’s life at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest at Hingham Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00am until the time of service.
Memorials are appreciated in Joan’s name to Mercy Ships or Compassion International.
