Jo Ann Elizabeth Prinsen, 83, of Oostburg, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Jo Ann was born on February 28, 1942, to Howard and Margaret (Westerbeke) Huenink in Sheboygan. She graduated from Oostburg High School in 1960.
On April 6, 1962, she was united in marriage to Murray Prinsen in Oostburg.
Jo Ann worked for Musebeck Shoe Factory in Cedar Grove and cleaned at Dr. Lizik’s office and for the Oostburg School District. Most importantly she was a housewife and mother. Her prized job and best time of her life was babysitting all her grandchildren.
Jo Ann was a member of First Reformed Church in Oostburg, where she was a Sunday school teacher and Bible school teacher. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, ceramics, and feeding her backyard birds. She and Murray were camp hosts at Kohler Andrae over the years and enjoyed going on bus trips. Jo Ann loved the monthly family Sunday dinners, and holiday baking in which her peanut butter balls were a family favorite.
Jo Ann is survived by her husband of 63 years Murray; sons Jeff (Sally) Prinsen and John Prinsen; grandchildren Nathan, Derrik, Kami (Chad) Yurk, Tanner, Ryan (fiancé Jenna Blair), and Hunter (fiancé Ryan Welch); great-grandchildren Aubrey and Silas Yurk, Keegan and Ophelia Prinsen; brother Gary (Kay) Huenink; sister-in-law, Judy Huenink; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son Michael Prinsen, parents, brother James Huenink, parents-in-law Lester and Alice Prinsen, and sister-in-law Patricia (Don) Kobus.
A memorial service to celebrate Jo Ann’s life will be held at First Reformed Church in Oostburg on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 11:00am. A livestream of the service can be viewed by visiting Jo Ann’s obituary page at wenigfh.com.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at church from 9:00am until the time of service.
