Carl Ten Pas, 93, of Cedar Grove, entered eternal life on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice with family by his side.

Carl was born February 16, 1932, in Cedar Grove, son of Herbert and Mabel (Theune) Ten Pas. He graduated from Cedar Grove High School. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army and upon returning from Korea, he was united in marriage with Jo Ann M. Joosse on August 28, 1953. They lived in Indiana and Colorado Springs, Colorado before returning to Cedar Grove where they raised their family. The couple shared 69 years together before her passing in 2022.

Carl was a lifelong member of First Reformed Church of Cedar Grove, where he served as elder and deacon. He was employed for 37 years with Wisconsin Electric until his retirement in 1992. Carl always made sure everything was perfect and level and gave a lot of thought to every decision he made. He enjoyed hobby farming, working in his workshop, fishing, and many trips up north. He had a love of animals, especially dogs, and was very proud of his military service. Carl loved traveling with Jo Ann over the years and his family was most important to him.

He is survived by ; one son, John (Sherry) Ten Pas of Cedar Grove; four daughters, Jane (Doug) Herzog of Cedar Grove, Carla Obbink of Cedar Grove, Carol (Scott) Mentink of Oostburg, Mary (Andrew) Lavey of Cedar Grove; 18 grandchildren, Robert (Liz) Ten Pas, Katie Ten Pas, Clare (Jack) Randall, David (Lara) Herzog, Anna (Mike) Forbes, Dan (Lily) Herzog, Jonathan (Briana) Herzog, JoEllen (Peter) DeHaai, Jaclyn (Steve) Ratajczak, Melanie (Brayden) VanEss, Gail (Tim) Stokdyk, Beth (Bob) Larson, Monica Mentink, Abigail (Eric) Boehlke, Stephen Lavey, Lydia Lavey, Ben Lavey, Jonah Lavey; and 27 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Jo Ann, beloved son-in-law and granddaughter, Brian and Megan Obbink, parents, sister Muriel (Lloyd) Mentink, parents-in-law John and Maria (Geldof) Joosse, brothers-in-law George (Eunice) Joosse, Adrian (LaVerne) Joosse, William (Lillian) Joosse, and John (Phyllis) Joosse, and sisters-in-law Tannie (Clarence) DeMaster, Maude (Lester) Heinen, Ann (Alvin) Navis, Marie (Paul) Nyhof, and Audrey Joosse.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Carl’s life will be held at the First Reformed Church of Cedar Grove on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 10:00 am with Pastor Henry Bradford officiating. A livestream of the service can be viewed by visiting Carl’s obituary page on wenigfh.com. Carl will be laid to rest beside Jo Ann at Cedar Grove Cemetery.

A visitation will take place at church on Sunday, August 24, from 2:00pm until 5:00pm and again on Monday from 9:00am until the time of service.

Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, or First Reformed Church of Cedar Grove.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Bre, Natassja, and the staff of Sharon. S Richardson Community Hospice, and Jeri, Cindy, and Jenny, for their kind and compassionate care of Carl.
