Larry John Ten Pas, 80, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center – Sheboygan.
Larry was born on April 24, 1944, to William and Iva (Meylink) Ten Pas in Sheboygan. He graduated from Cedar Grove High School and went on to serve in the US Army in Korea from 1962-1965.
Larry was united in marriage to Jacquelyn Hilbelink on May 20, 1967, at First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove.
Larry worked as a mason for Cedar Grove Construction for over 35 years and went to help with fieldwork at Hilbelink Farms. He enjoyed gardening, reading, camping, and playing games. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren.
Larry was a member of First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove, where he served as elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, and sang in the choir. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Good as New Shop, and was involved with the work crew that went to The Other Way Ministries in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Larry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jackie; sons, Darryl (Karen) of Sioux Center, Iowa, Jeff (Shona), of Lynden, Washington, and Randy (Kristi) Ten Pas of Hull, Iowa; grandchildren, Derek (fiancé Lyndee), Katelyn, Taylor (fiancé Neil), Hailey (Colton) Cohoon, Micah, Breanna, Trista, and Miranda Ten Pas. He is further survived by his sister, Mary (Ron) Heins; brothers-in-law, Glenn (Diane) Hilbelink and Mark (Sue) Hilbelink; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law, Marvin and Pearl Hilbelink.
A funeral service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held at First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 11:00am. A livestream of Larry’s service can be found by visiting his obituary page on wenigfh.com. Larry will be laid to rest at Cedar Grove Cemetery with military honors.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Friday, August 23, from 4:00-7:00pm and again at church on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of service.
Memorials are appreciated in Larry’s name to The Other Way Ministries in Grand Rapids, MI or Heaven’s Gait Ranch in Cedar Grove.
