Herbert Nickens Obituary
Funeral services for Mr. Herbert Nickens of Washington, DC formerly of Kilmarnock, VA will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at the Canaan Baptist Church, at 1607 Monroe Street, NW, Washington, DC 20010, with Reverend Dr. Larry Owens, Jr, Pastor, Eulogist; Rev. Craig Harcum, Officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, 1 hour prior to service.
Funeral services will continue at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Heathsville, VA with Rev. Dr. Tyron Williams, Eulogist and Rev. Carolyn Fisher, of the Queen Esther Baptist Church, Mollusk, VA, Eulogist.
Interment services will follow at the church cemetery where he be laid to rest beside his precious wife, Adeline Nickens.
Services of comfort and trust provided by the Berry O. Waddy Funeral Home, Lancaster and Berry O. Waddy Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Burgess.

I've known Herb for many , many years since his employment at Martin's Volkswagen in DC. Herb was a "salt of the earth" kid of person. He was patient, kind, empathetic and ever entending of his himself to help other people. He spoke of memories with his wife and family members. His big heart and soul will be missed greatly. The world needs more like him. My heart is saddened at his loss. With sympathy...Carole Perry.
