Kenneth Nickens Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holden Cremation & Funeral Service - Sparta on Jan. 28, 2026.
Kenneth (Kenney) Earl Nickens, age 80, of Branson, Missouri, went to be home with his Lord on Friday, January 23, 2026 after many chronic health issues at Cox Branson Hospital.

He was born February 25, 1945 in Hollister, Missouri to Arnold and Marie (Gibson) Nickens. On October 8, 1980 he married Darlene Marie Holt. Together they raised 6 children.

Kenny liked to help people and he had a gift to be able to fix almost anything. He was always the first on to jump on a project or job that needed to be done and liked to do the job to perfection!

He was known as the "Concrete Man" of Table Rock Asphalt for 40 years. But the job he took the most pride in and really poured his heart into was his work for the Lord at his church, Hilltop Full Gospel, Spokane, Missouri. He would get to church early to get everything ready for the service. Then he would greet people as they come in always helping the ones with wheelchairs and walkers. He would make sure everyone had a bottle of water. The scripture that fit him is Psalms 84:10; I had rather be a doorkeeper in the House of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. He did many, many other jobs, too numerous to mention.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene, of the home; two sons, Richard Nickens and Shelly of Ozark, Missouri, Keith Nickens of Branson, Missouri, and one daughter, Charlene Hinderson of Branson, Missouri; three step children: Vanissa Miller of California, Lonnie Miller of Shell Knob, Missouri, and Traci Thompson and Dale of Mississippi; 15 grandchildren, two of which he called only by their nicknames, Pumpkin and Do-Little; 16 great grandchildren and a whole host of other family and friends.
