Herbert G. "Herb" Poreda

Herbert "Herb" Poreda, 91, of Berkshire, New York, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. Mr. Poreda was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Otto and Emma (Newman) Poreda. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his six brothers, Ernest, Paul, Helmeth "Bill", Al, Siggie, (infant) Rudolph Poreda; sister, Elsie Radford, Chrystal Schmitt; his wife of 56 years, Janet Poreda. He is survived by his two sons and daughter-in-law, Russell and Kimberly Poreda, Scott Poreda; grandchildren, Ryan Poreda, Ashley (Adam) Wach, Christopher Bailey, Erika Bailey (Mike Goff), Katie Tracy (Ryan Brainard), Stephanie (Bryan) Morgan; great-grandchildren, Madison, Sydney, Adley, Abigail; siblings, Ruth Greenslade, Emmy and Eddy Sieminski, Lydia Vitaitits, Walter (Betty) Poreda, Donny; sisters-in-law, Elaine Poreda, Carol Poreda, Helga Poreda, Kathy Poreda, Marie Roberts; special cousin, Nancy (Kim) Kiesow; numerous nieces and nephews. Herb was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated Poreda Farms of Newark Valley and was the proud recipient of being named Dairy of Distinction Farm. A celebration of Herb's life will be held on March 9 2024, from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Owego VFW Post 1371, 207 Main Street, Owego, NY. Military Honors will be conducted at 1:00 pm at the VFW.
