Herbert Edgar Raish

Herbert Edgar Raish, 95, of Bridgewater, VA passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community, in Harrisonburg after a brief illness.
Mr. Raish was born on March 26, 1930 in Rockingham County, VA to the late William Isaac and Lula Catherine Spitzer Raish.
He retired from Walker Manufacturing as an engineer. Prior to working at Walker, he was involved with his family's business, Raish Produce in Harrisonburg, VA. He was a member of Bethlehem Brethren Church and Elks Lodge #450, both in Harrisonburg. He and his wife spent their retirement at their home on Smith Mountain Lake and he was an avid hunter. He collected many wonderful friends throughout his life.
On September 23, 1960 he was united in marriage to the former Margie Elizabeth Bradley. After 52 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on December 20, 2012.
Herbert is survived by two granddaughters, Lorena "Lori" Key and late husband, James and Brittney Deese and husband, Stephen; devoted niece, Patsy Hull and husband, Howard and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Bowman; son-in-law, Leon Alden Bowman; two sisters, Leona Long and Ethel Cashell and three brothers, Roy Raish, Richard Raish and Harold Raish.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Bethlehem Brethren Church, 178 Pleasant Hill Road, Harrisonburg, VA 22801, with Pastor Gail Heiston officiating. Burial will follow at Dayton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the church.
