Herbert Franklin “J.R.” Rexrode Jr., 52, of Warm Springs, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023 as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
He was born March 30, 1970 in Bath County, a son of Herbert Franklin “Frankie” and Ella Mae (Ryder) Rexrode of Warm Springs.
An outdoorsman, J.R. loved fishing, boating, and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. He was so full of life and was always the life of the party. J.R. was an amazing and hardworking carpenter, and could build an entire house by hand. Additionally, he was a caring man, who was always willing to give the shirt off his back if someone needed it. Above all, he will be remembered as the greatest daddy there could ever be – “there was nothing in this world he wouldn’t do for his children and grandchildren.”
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his two daughters, Autumn Leigh Powell and husband, Andrew, and Ashley Renee Rexrode and Joseph Turicik, all of Waynesboro; step-children, who he considered his own, Tiffany and Jeffrey Rimmer and Erica Bagby; six grandchildren, Raelynn Nikole, Derrick Deon, Audree Leigh, Adrianna Marie, Joseph Matthew and Emmet Cole; a sister, Lori Altizer and Scott Carpenter of Warm Springs; niece, Savannah Altizer of Warm Springs; nephew, Jake Altizer of Warm Springs; as well as many friends.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
Friends wishing to pay their respects may call at the home of his parents at 978 McGuffin Road, Warm Springs.
Memorial contributions may be made to Chimney Run Church of the Brethren, c/o Bonnie Robertson, 2033 Indian Draft Road, Millboro, Va. 24460.
