Merlin James Hartman "Jack" Daugherty Sr., 71, of Staunton, passed away Sunday morning, December 24, 1989 at King's Daughters' Hospital.
He was born July 19, 1918 in Augusta County, a son of William H. and Carrie (Helmick) Daugherty.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and was area manager for Curtis Noll Industries of East Lake, Ohio.
Surviving are his widow, Vallie Daugherty of Staunton; two daughters, Carol Brooks and Becki Driver, both of Staunton; a son, Jim Daugherty Jr. of Maryland; five grandchildren, Wendy Brown Hale, Christopher and Eric Brown and Peter and Cameron Driver; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church by Dr. J. Paul Rowe and Rev. Albert Scharder.
