Herbert Gilbert Roy, 87 of Newington, passed away peacefully on January 30th, 2024. Reunited with the love of his life, Theresa (Ouellette) Roy, they shared 45 years of love until her passing in 2014. The youngest of eight, to the late Joseph Edmond and Cecile (Morin) Roy, Herb was born on November 29th, 1936, and was raised in
Hamlin, Maine on his family's potato farm.
Herbert was a communicant of St. Mary's church in Newington. He loved his western television and would watch the mass on TV everyday in his later years. He worked at Swanson Tool for 30 years, after his retirement, Lowes was his happy place for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, picking fiddleheads, camping and was a profound animal lover. He and Theresa often traveled around the country and loved sightseeing. Their house was filled with love and laughter where they often enjoyed many guests who sang and danced along. He was a guy with an immense sense of humor and would always have you laughing until your stomach hurt. He was delighted to spend time with his grandchildren and joked with them until his last day about his future horse and buggy. He was the kind of guy everyone had to meet and you felt his gracious presence long after. He was the best "ploy" maker around and loved sharing his cultural food with the family. He cared for his family abundantly and always provided for them in any way they needed. He had the biggest heart and it will surely be missed.
