Herbert Schumann, Jr. Obituary
Herbert Franklin Schumann Jr age 60, of Oviedo, Florida, passed away unexpectedly from a cardiac event May 3rd, 2024. He was born June 7th 1963 in Huntington, New York and his family moved to Orlando, Florida in 1978. He attended the Patchogue school system, Lake Brantley High School, and Rollins College for his BA and MBA. He met his wife Karen at Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour after she ordered a mint chocolate chip brownie sundae and he brought her extra hot fudge. He always made his family the best banana split sundaes and reminisced on their love story. Herb worked as an executive in Information Technology at Disney for 22 years during which he was awarded with the Partners In Excellence award. He went on to work as a Vice President at Universal Studios, and most recently a Senior Director at Hilton Grand Vacations.
Herb was an ever present and extremely devoted husband, father, friend, and coworker. Herb loved spending time experimenting with his Big Green Egg and making margaritas for family and friends. Herb found so much pleasure in the outdoors, always making time to walk and garden. Herb was a seamless leader in all activities he was involved in-he simply loved to plan and organize events for loved ones. In his free time he loved to golf and participate in many fantasy football and baseball leagues. Herb was passionate about fostering community relations through the church and loved volunteering at EPIC, the church youth group, when his kids were younger.
He was predeceased by his mother Loraine Schumann in 2023. Herb is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Karen, four children Tatum (Brandon), Tillie (Chris), Trina, Heath and his father Herbert Schumann Sr. He is also survived by his brother Ed Schumann (Kelli), cousin Dave Chambers (Suzanne), numerous other cousins, friends, and extended family. The family will receive friends on Saturday May 11th, 2024 at 11am at University Carillon United Methodist Church for the service and reception.

I had the privilege of working with Herb at NBCUniversal. He was such a nice man, and I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I just learned of it today, and I wanted to express my deepest sympathies to the family. I wish you all my very best.

I had the great fortune to work with Herb at Disney and at Hilton Grand Vacations. Herb was an amazing leader. He took everything in stride and was incredibly supportive to his colleagues and team members. I was shocked to hear such a kind person had been taken from us. He will be missed.

Hal and I are so devastated for Herb's family, NDI brothers (sisters) and the multitude of friends that filled the services yesterday. While the service and visitation after was a step towards acceptance, I know things will never be the same for Karen, their children and close family members and friends. I recall when we worked together at USSI in the late '80s, I failed to drop off a FedEx package for a client. I had the worse night and worried so much. I arrived early at the office to admit to him what had happened. He didn't make me feel worse, he didn't chastise me; Herb just gave me 'that smile' and I knew all was ok. He was a gentle and kind man, a person who put together the USSI golf tourneys, the lottery parties, football pools and great fun on the cruises. Thank you for being my friend and while things will never be the same, we know your family has a full, loving group to help them through. As the rest of us move forward, a day will not go by that Herb is not thought of and a smile comes across my face.

I was Herb´s executive assistant at Disney...he was always so supportive, gracious and thoughtful. He spoke often about his wife and children and how much they meant to him. An amazing boss, friend and gentleman who will be greatly missed.

Herb and I worked on a number of initiatives while at Disney and at Universal. Herb became a true mentor for me both personally and professionally over the years. After working with Herb, I would check-in with him every once in a while, and we always had a laugh. I still owe him a game of golf. God speed my friend

I worked with Herb for a short time, during which he made a huge impact. He was kind, welcoming, honest and transparent. His heart for people didn't have to be stated. It was obvious. We were supposed to schedule lunch to catch up. Now I am reminded not to put those things off. I am heartbroken for those he leaves behind, yet at peace knowing he is better off than all of us now. I will be praying for his family, friends, and his work-friends/family.

Herb I enjoyed our time working together at Hilton. You were always a gentleman - kind, thoughtful and always put people first. I remember our conversations about Green Eggs and some great tips you shared. My deepest condolences to your family and friends. You are gone too soon and will be I know dearly missed. I hope the wonderful memories and love you shared sustain for family during this difficult time. R.I.P my friend.
