Herbert Simmons Obituary
Herbert served in the Navy during World War II, and later worked for the Town of Hanover in the positions of Elected Tree Warden, Highway Superintendent, and finally, Superintendent of Public Works. He was a Mason for 60 years.
Herbert retired in 1986 and moved to Brownfield, Maine, where he lived for 12 years. Later, he moved to Hanover, where he spent the rest of his days.
Herbert is predeceased by his brother Alton T. Simmons, sister Marion Anderson, and daughter Deborah Bowen. He is survived by two daughters, Merideth of Panama City, Fla. and her husband Arthur, and Joan of Salem, Ma., seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, as well as close friends Betsey and Melissa Neal.
There will be private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Norwell VNA and Hospice at 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell MA, 02061 or the Jimmy Fund, at http://danafarber.jimmyfund.org.

He grew up on Main St just a couple of houses from my mother Jane Hansen Campbell. They were great friends . I still live in the family home. Herb was well known and loved and was a true townie.

Your dad grandpa or other. I grew up next to them all Marilyn Herbert And Alton and my favorite grandma Mimi. I used to run over the wall and talk to Mimi. My favorite, we made cookies together. I lived at Landers house holed we had chickens and cows, Basil was my school bus driver. Love you all. Carolyn.
