Herbert Franklin Smith, age 92 of Ashland City, TN went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
Herbert was born on January 13, 1933, in Macon, Missouri to Paul and Mae Smith. He was the oldest of 4 children, Robert Smith of Moberly, Missouri, Lala Smiley (deceased), and Velma Casebolt of Huntsville, Missouri. He married Ruth Marie Dailey on October 29, 1955. She passed away on March 31, 2023. Herbert and Marie had 2 babies that died at birth, A son, William Robert, and a daughter, Bonnie Lou. He is survived by 2 daughters, Carol Bennett (Tim), and Lori Maupin (Trent). Herbert is also survived by his seven grandchildren; Ryan Maupin (Crystal), Meridith Axt (Jason), Kyle Maupin, Carissa Fox (Wes), Rachel Huck ( Elliot), Tyler Maupin (Kelsie), and Jonathan Bennett (Bethann). They also had 14 great-grandchildren, Caelum Maupin, Lachlan Maupin, Nathaniel Axt, Ezekiel Axt, Titus Axt, Anina Axt, Maliyah Fox, Marlee Fox, Jayce Fox, McKenna Fox, Liam Fox, Reuben Bennett, Lorien Bennett and Ruth Bennett.
He served for many years as a Sunday School teacher and deacon at his church and faithfully served wherever he was needed. In 2010, after retiring they moved to Tennessee to be closer to family. Herbert moved to The Waters of Cheatham on February 28, 2023, where he was loved and cared for by the staff there. He was a member of The Crossroad Church in Ashland City, Tennessee. He was loved by so many and brought smiles to all who loved him. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Boyd Funeral Home of Ashland City with Pastor Trent Maupin officiating. Visitation will be preceeding the funeral from 11:00-1:00. Burial will be in the Neptune-Smith cemetery.
