Herbert Tanner Obituary
Herbert Michael Tanner, a man of remarkable talent and enduring grace, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025, in Mableton, Georgia, at the age of 79. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 23, 1945, Herbert spent his formative years growing up in Albany, Georgia, where he developed the strong character and passions that would define his life.
In his youth, Herbert graced the stage as an opera singer, sharing his extraordinary voice and love for music with audiences who were captivated by his performances. His artistry left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to witness his gift.
Later in life, Herbert dedicated many years to a successful career at FedEx, where he worked with diligence and pride before retiring. Beyond his professional career, Herbert was a prolific author who wrote several books that showcased his creativity, insight, and passion for storytelling.
Herbert is survived by his loving spouse, Samuel Fountain, his cherished son, Alex Music, and his beloved brothers, Steve and Marshall. Together, they celebrate his legacy and hold his memory close to their hearts.
Beyond his accomplishments, Herbert will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and the lasting impact he had on his family, friends, and community.
Mr. Tanner's ashes will be interred in Historic Oakland Cemetery on Tuesday, March 25th at 10 am.
