Herbert Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Andrews Funeral Home, Inc. - El Dorado on Mar. 19, 2025.
When asked how he was doing, he would always say, "I'm still here!" Herbert Williams, Jr. departed from life on March 12, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on February 5, 1928, in Strong, Arkansas, to Joe Herbert and Irene Williams, Herbert learned early about the values of hard work, faith, and family. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church before later joining Greater Paradise Baptist Church, where he remained a faithful and devoted servant until his passing.
Herbert Williams graduated from Gardner High School in Strong, Arkansas. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he served as a medic caring for his fellow soldiers. Later, he worked for Cooper Industrial Products for many years until retirement. Never one to sit idle, after retirement he kept busy by working with Bill Allen Auction.
Herbert Williams lived a full blessed life. He enjoyed hunting, watching sports, and engaging in conversations with family and friends. He had a special fondness for people-watching at Walmart, spending hours under his car porch watching the traffic go by, and most of all, attending church to worship God.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joe Herbert and Irene Williams; his two wives Dorothy Evans Williams and Ruby Walker Williams; seven siblings, Ida Mae Braggs, Mattie Mae McElroy, Virginia Williams, Lucille Smith, Louise Smith, Marshall Williams, and Millard Williams; and a bonus son Anthony Jones.
Though he has left this earthly home, his spirit lives on in those who loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, La Joyce Porchia (Calvin Porchia), and Loraine Miller of El Dorado, AR; one son Larry Powell of Kentucky; two bonus children Fredrick Baker and Joyce Hall, along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
Herbert Williams, Jr. was a man of faith and resilience. His legacy will live on in the stories, laughter, and love he shared with those fortunate enough to have known him. He may have departed this life, but in the hearts of those who loved him, he is still here.
