Herman Brereton Obituary
Herman Hugh Brereton, 88, of Vicksburg, Michigan, died Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Born December 24, 1936, in Trinidad and Tobago, he was the son of Hugh and Florence (O'Brien) Brereton. He spent his early years in Trinidad, later working and studying in England before returning to Trinidad. He immigrated to the United States and lived for a time in Madison, Wisconsin, and eventually settled in Vicksburg, where he made his home for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Vilma Mary Brereton (DeSouza); two children, Gerrard Brereton (Ann Marie) and Judith Newallo; a stepson, Derek DeSouza; his daughter in law, Dianne Brereton, widow of his late son Stanley; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and five siblings: Mervyn, Michael, Leslie, Stanley and Kathleen. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his son Stanley.
