Herman Erwin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Labby Memorial Funeral Home - DeRidder on Mar. 10, 2026.
Herman Lee Erwin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at the age of 89, in Rosepine, Louisiana. He was born on July 31, 1936, in Leesville, Louisiana, to Samuel Lee Erwin and Irma Jewel Tilley Erwin.

He was a man known for his mischievous pranks and joyful spirit. Herman was an exceptional domino and checker player and loved entertaining others with his magic tricks. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and gardening, and had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He was a graduate of Anacoco High School and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.

Above all, Herman adored the love of his life, his wife, Glynda. The two shared an incredible 67 years of marriage. He loved his family deeply, and family get-togethers were always a time of fun and laughter. He was a faithful prayer warrior, a dedicated soul winner, and dearly loved his church family.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Glynda Erwin; his sons, Randall (Debra Lucas) Erwin of Lumberton, Texas, Sherman Erwin of Anacoco, Louisiana, and Myron (Terri) Erwin of Lafayette, Louisiana; and his daughters, Cindy Milstead (Gerald) of Madison, Mississippi, and Nelda Ray (John) of DeRidder, Louisiana.

He is also survived by his sister, Linda Slaydon of Anacoco, Louisiana; his grandchildren, Wendy, Kimberly, Darren, LaRanda, Kayla, Lynn, Kearie, Shain, Dylan, Jackson, and Brayland; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Harbor Hospice, as well as Deona Gray, the nurses, and staff of Rosepine Rehab, whose compassion and care provided comfort during this time.

Funeral services will be held at First United Pentecostal Church in Leesville on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 11:00 A.M., officiated by Rev. Mark Christian, alongside Rev. Gerald Milstead and Rev. Paul Webb.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. on Friday, March 13, 2026, and continue until the time of the service at the church.

Burial will follow at Mitchell Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home.
