Herman Eldon Hamlin
September 15, 1942 – December 29, 2025
Herman Eldon Hamlin, a master mechanic and a pillar of the Richardson automotive community, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at the age of 83. Born in
Lewisville, Texas, on September 15, 1942, to Herman and Goldie Hamlin, Eldon spent a lifetime defining the meaning of hard work, craftsmanship, and quiet service.
A Legacy of Service
Eldon's hands were rarely clean, and he preferred it that way. Over a career spanning more than 40 years in Richardson, Texas, he became a trusted fixture for local drivers. He dedicated 30 years to Pitcock Automotive before concluding his career as the co-owner of Quality Carburetion.
For Eldon, his skills were a gift to be shared. He frequently used his mechanical talents to serve those in need, often staying late or working weekends to ensure a neighbor or a stranger wasn't left stranded. He truly believed that if you had the ability to fix something, you had the responsibility to help.
A Father Who Led by Example
Eldon's greatest work was the family he raised. He was a dedicated father who didn't just tell his children how to live, he showed them. He lived by a strict code of integrity, teaching his children that a man's word was his bond and that no job was beneath him if it provided for those he loved. His children saw firsthand the value of a tireless work ethic and the importance of showing up, day after day, with a steady hand and a kind heart.
He is survived by his older brother, Harold Hamlin, and sister-in-law, Sissy, and his four children: Gary, Bobby, Lance, and Angie Ahern, as well as his four step-children: Tony Sanderfer, Jason Sanderfer, Desiree Sanderfer, and Steve Mandrell. He also leaves behind three daughter-in-laws whom he loved dearly, Treava, Patty, and Rose, and his nine grandchildren: Ashton, Brandon, Gary Jr., Ryan, Sarah, Emma, Hunter, Kirby, and Skylar.

Eldon was a man of few words but great impact. Whether he was under the hood of a car or at the head of a family table, he led by example. His passing marks the end of an era in the Richardson automotive world, but his influence will be felt for generations through the family he built and the community he served.
