Herman Evans Knight, beloved son of the late Perry and Mozelle Knight, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at the age of 78.
Born on June 23, 1947, Herman lived a life rooted in love and quiet strength. Though he had no children of his own, Herman found deep joy and fulfillment in being a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews—Vivia Ann Faith Norris, Charlena Stuart, Mark Stuart (wife Lisa), Angela Harrison, DeeDee and Darrell McCandless, Sonny Lester (wife Andrea), Shawn Lester, Paul Seymour, and Wesley Seymour—who cherished his presence, humor, and steadfast support.
Herman also embraced his role as a stepfather and grandfather with great warmth. He treasured the time spent with his stepchildren—Christopher Hammon (wife Cryste) and their children Triston, Annabell, and Isabell; Steven Hammon and his sons Aiden and Deiderik; and Brandon Hammon and his children Clayton, Ivy, and Daisy. His love extended deeply to all of them, and his legacy lives on in the bonds he nurtured.
He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Anjie Hammon, and his sister, Laverne Knight Seymour and her husband William 'Bill' Symour. He is preceded in death by his sisters Zelda Stuart and Della Knight Baker, and his brother Charles Stuart Jr.
Herman will be remembered for his quiet generosity; the gentle way he made others feel seen and valued. His family finds comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on the many lives he touched.
