Jimmy Lee Davis, 86, of Elmo, Texas, passed away on September 6, 2025. Born on June 11, 1939 in Gary, Texas, he was devoted husband and father.

He was hard-working and dedicated to supporting his family. He spent over 45 years working as a roofer, carpenter, and jack of all trades, where he was better known by his co-workers as the Roof Hog for his ability to roof houses quicker than anyone else. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his children and grandchildren.

Time has a way of slipping by quicker than we realize, so many missed opportunities to express our appreciation of the impact he was making on our lives, we just assume that opportunities would somehow avail themselves in the near future that we took for granted. He was a man of integrity, kindness and generosity and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his life-long friend, Ruth Gilliland of Elmo, TX, son Jeff Davis of Harriman, TN, daughter Ronda Granger of Corsicana, daughter Susan Hailey and husband Tony of Terrell, TX, son Jimmy Merritt of Elmo, TX, sister Barbara Story and husband Rodney of Eustace, TX. twelve beloved grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Van Terrell Davis and Joyce Marie Yates, brother Troy Eugene Davis, and sister Shirley Hayworth. He was a man of integrity, kindness and generosity and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
