Born on January 10, 1933, in Monett, Missouri, she embodied the spirit of a caring and compassionate individual throughout her life.

Jo Ann spent over 20 remarkable years serving as a secretary to the Mesquite Police Department. Her role was not just a job; it was a testament to her commitment and hard work. She made history as the first civilian employee to earn the coveted Civilian of the Year award from the Mesquite Police Department, a recognition of her unwavering dedication to her community and profession.

Beyond her career, Jo Ann was a woman of many talents and passions. Her love for gardening was evident in the vibrant flowers and lush vegetable patches she cultivated. She had a knack for sewing, creating beautiful garments with her skilled hands. Even the simple pleasures in life brought her joy; she adored watching westerns and raising chickens, which filled her days with laughter and contentment. Cooking and baking were expressions of her love, particularly for her family, who fondly recall the delightful meals that filled their home with warmth. Her cherished golf cart rides around the family property were a symbol of her free spirit and zest for life.

She dedicated herself to charitable service programs, tirelessly working to raise funds and support those in need. Her compassionate heart left an indelible mark on many, reflecting her unwavering commitment to making the world a better place.

The cherished friendships Jo Ann built were among her most treasured possessions. Her bond with her best friend, Mary Dickens, lasted over forty years, illustrating the deep connections she fostered throughout her life.
