Herman Rayford Polk

Herman R. Polk was born on June 14, 1947, in Herne, Texas to Melvin and Mildred Polk. He attended public school and was a 1965 graduate of Solomon M. Coles High School. He attended HBCU, Wiley University in Marshall, Texas and shortly after, he was drafted into the Army from 1966 to 1968 where he served in the Vietnam War.
Herman lived in Los Angeles, California where he was united in marriage with Janice Martin on August 6, 1969. To that union, three children were born: Tiffiny Polk (Fontana, CA), Herman Jerome Polk (deceased) and Marcus Polk (San Antonio, TX).
Herman was employed as a Longshoreman with his father and worked at Colonel, Aviation Commending Corpus Christi, Texas and he retired after 20 years on June 19, 2007. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of his Sunday School class.
His parents precede him in death. Herman leaves to cherish his memory, his children: daughter, Tiffiny Polk of Fontana, CA, and son, Marcus Polk of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren: Joshua Whittaker, Shambriae Polk, Ja'Lynn Polk, Sabrina Polk, and Jasmine Polk-Lyday; and great granddaughter, Ivy Franklin, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
