He was born on June 1, 1939, in Bellflower, Missouri the son of Frank and Clara Smith.
Herman married Willie Jean Cox on July 16, 1960 in Eolia and she survives.
other survivors include five sons; Jessie (Katy) Smith of Beebe, Arkansasa, Robert Smith of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Tony (Sue Lynn) Smith of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jerry Smith of Hollister, MO, and Michael Smith of Arizona, 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Herman was a member of the Eastern Missouri Cowboy Church and attended the Laddonia Christian Church. He was a 1958 graduate of Normandy High School and in his early years he was a boy scout and eagle scout. He worked for many years as a trona miner in Wyoming. His passion was playing guitar. He started at age twelve and by eighteen he was teaching others. He even dedicated an entire room of his home to his passion of music.
The family will be hosting a celebration of life service for Herman at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 14, 2025 at the Laddonia Christian Church with pastor Bill Maupin officiating.
