Mr. Stevenson passed away at his home in Hobbs, New Mexico, on Sunday, October 26, 2025. He was born September 17, 1930, in Briggsdale, Ohio, to Herman Joseph and Virginia Louise (Bowman) Stevenson. He graduated from Ostrander High School in 1948 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950, serving as an aircraft mechanic until his retirement in 1971.
On February 23, 1996, he married Betty Ruth (Todd) in New Deal, Texas. Following his military career, Mr. Stevenson worked for Texas Tech University. He loved football, old westerns, crossword puzzles, and cars, and in his younger years he enjoyed hunting. He was also a longtime member of New Deal First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth Stevenson, on August 21, 2019; his parents, Herman Joseph and Virginia Louise Stevenson; two sisters, Dolores Lavender and Evelyn Gosnell; and two brothers, Paul Stevenson and Kermit Stevenson.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Kelley and husband Tony of DeSoto, Texas, Connie Self and husband Mike of Paslo, Washington, and Debbie Weaver and husband Robert of Hobbs, New Mexico; one son, Danny Worsham and wife Paulette of Lubbock, Texas; two brothers, Larry Stevenson of California and David Stevenson of Florida; one sister, Marilyn Perine and husband Ken of Mississippi; nine grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org or a favorite charity.
