Herschel Dean Connell

Herschel Dean Connell, 86, of Jamestown, MO passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at The Neighborhoods by Tiger Place in Columbia, MO. He was born on October 22, 1938 near Marion, MO the son of John Edward Connell and Eunice (Bailey) Connell both of whom preceded him in death. Herschel was a graduate of Jamestown High School. He later joined the United States Army as a Specialist 2 and was instrumental in building the Highway to Freedom in Vietnam. Herschel worked for the SCM Corporation and retired with the USPS as a technical support employee. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Herschel enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing softball. He is survived by a son Jeff Connell (Jill Allen) of Columbia, MO; 1 grandaughter, Daniel Spears (Vince); 2 great grandchildren Jospehine Mae Spears and Isaiah Dean Spears and special friend, Mary Anne Owens. Services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the New Hope Cemetery c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services of California, MO.
