Hershel Boone, a devoted father, brother, and community member, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, at the Weakley County Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 18, 1924, in Ridgely, TN, Hershel led a life marked by hard work and dedication. He made his mark as a respected truck driver, a career that exemplified his commitment to providing for his family.
Hershel was a cherished member of Beech Springs Baptist Church in Gleason, TN, where he found both spiritual nourishment and a sense of community. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he was known for his kindness and generosity.
He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in raising cattle and farming, pursuits that brought him closer to nature and his rural roots. His love for the land and farming was reflective of his character, instilling in him a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for family life.
He is survived by his two daughters, Janice Hensley and Julie Easley; his brothers, Talmadge Boone and Jerry Boone; his sister, Martha Sublet; and a legacy that includes five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Each of them carries forward his spirit and values.
Hershel reunites in peace with his beloved wife, Vivian Boone, and their daughter, Suzzanne Miller, as well as his parents, Earl Boone and Lorene Smith. He also joins five brothers and two sisters, and a grandchild who have preceded him in death.
The funeral services will be held on November 16, 2025, at Bowlin Funeral Home in Dresden, TN. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM, officiated by Bro. Steve Boone and Bro. Jeff Moody. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Hershel's life will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
