Hershell McAlpine

Hershell R. McAlpine, 79 of Blountsville passed away Wednesday December 17, 2025, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. Mr. McAlpine was born December 15, 1946, in Blount County, the son of Glenn Hershell McAlpine and Bonnie Jean Bryson McAlpine. He was a veteran having served in the US Navy and was a logger and trapper for many years. Hershell loved his family and had a passion for the outdoors. He was married to Mary Jo McAlpine for 41 years at the time of her passing July 3, 2025. He was a member of Mulberry Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children: Quentin (Mariah) Killian, Karen (Michael) Thrasher, Kevin (Monica) McAlpine, Courtney (Paul) Glenon and Debra (Tommy) Watkins; host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Earl (Denise) McAlpine, William (Betty) McAlpine, Jerry (Teresa) McAlpine, Keith (Joyce) McAlpine, Glenda "Sissy" Comier, Linda McAlpine (Michael) and Tammy McAlpine Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents: Glenn Hershell and Bonnie Jean McAlpine; wife: Mary Jo McAlpine; daughter: Dana Killian; son: David Killian and grandson: Perry Kelly.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 20, 2025, at Blountsville Funeral Home with Brother Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Mulberry Cemetery, Blountsville Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Blountsville Funeral Home.

Pallbearers: Kevin McAlpine, Paul Glenon, Izayiah Glenon, Alek Wissinger, Andrew Haskins and Jonathan Gable.
