Milo Hamm Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Blountsville Funeral Home on Jan. 7, 2026.
Edward Milo Hamm, affectionately known as "Pawpaw", went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 5, 2026, at the age of 83 surrounded by his family. Milo was born on March 13, 1942, in Blount County to Ezra Fletcher Hamm and Ora Faye Butts Hamm, who instilled in him the values of hard work, faith, and family that guided his life. On November 22, 1959, Milo married the love of his life, Blanch "Boots" Reid. Together, they shared 66 years of marriage and built both a beautiful family and a lasting legacy. In 1973, they founded Hamm Cabinet, where Milo worked faithfully until his health no longer allowed. Even then, his dedication never wavered, as he continued to visit the shop daily for as long as he was able.

Milo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He found joy in farming, cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide, and, most of all, spending time with his family. His presence, steady guidance, and quiet strength were a blessing to all who knew him. A faithful member of Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Milo was ordained as a deacon in 2001. He served the church with humility and dedication and also shared his love of music by serving many years as co-singing chairman alongside his dear friend, Earl Young.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife: Blanch "Boots" Hamm; his children: Denise (Rodger) Leathers, David (Dawn) Hamm, and Dale Hamm; his grandchildren: Josh (Halie) Bailey, Jason (Tisha) Collins, Jana (Trey) Short, Tyler (Paige) Hamm, Darby (Kennedy) Nicholson, and Leslie (Rocky) Dunn; his great-grandchildren: Kayden Collins, Kamden Collins, Kaleb Collins, Corey Allred, Diana Bailey, Lakely Hamm, Landry Hamm, Foster Nicholson, Anna Dunn, Ezra Short, and Elsy Short. Milo is also survived by his sisters: Marlene (Boyce) Foust, Barbara (Billy) McDaniel, Rebecca (Garry) Kanaday, and Vickie Forster; stepmother: Mary Sue Hamm; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Milo was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra Fletcher Hamm and Ora Faye Hamm.

Funeral Service was 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Jerry Hackney and Brother Michael Murphree officiating. He was laid to rest at South Cemetery, Blountsville Funeral Home directing.

Visitation was 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church where family and friends will gather to honor his memory.

Pallbearers will be Josh Bailey, Jason Collins, Rocky Dunn, Trey Short, Kennedy Nicholson, Tyler Hamm, and Wayne Murphy. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons.
