Hilbert George DeJean was born May 2, 1958, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Hammond DeJean Sr. and Lovey Arbuthnot DeJean. Hilbert was known to some as "Cold Bear" and others "Uncle Bear". A resident of Lake Charles, he was a graduate of Lake Charles High School and also trade school as a mechanic. He was a member of St. Cathedral Church of God in Christ. Mr. DeJean departed this life Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in Lake Charles. He leaves to cherish his memories, three daughters, Shannon, Autumn, and Morgan DeJean; sisters, Joan Rogers, Yolanda Duhon, Jennifer Jackson, Lovey Guillory, and Jacqueline Dugas; brothers, Haywood DeJean, Harvey DeJean, and Dan Arbuthnot; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Elizabeth Land, Josephine Harris, and Hammond DeJean Jr.; niece, Kennedy DeJean; and nephews, Christopher Rogers and Harlem Ceaser. His visitation will be Sunday, February 16, 2025, from 10:00AM with his funeral following at 12:00NOON, at James Funeral Home located at 1801 Moeling Street in Lake Charles.
