Hilda (Annis) Tolve, 101, of Enfield, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024, at St. Joseph's Residence, where she has resided for the past 12 years under the beloved care of Little Sisters of the Poor.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on March 7, 1923, the daughter of the late Truman and Ruth (Murphy) Annis. Hilda attended schools in Manchester and was a 1940 graduate of Manchester High School.
At different times in her life Hilda worked outside of her home, however, her greatest joy in life was raising her children and caring for her family. She was a longtime communicant of St. Gabriel Church in Windsor, and while there she served as a Lay minister, Eucharistic minister and Spiritual Director. She was also an associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph and served as a volunteer at House Bread in Hartford for many years.
Hilda is survived by her children: Barbara Tolve-Silver of Windsor, James Tolve and wife Deborah of Boulder, CO, Patricia Roy of Reno, NV, Florina Balavender and her husband Brien of Glastonbury, and John Tolve of Windsor. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jessica Silver, Melissa Morin, Sarah Tolve, Oliver Tolve III, Andrew Roy, Elizabeth Furgal, Samantha Holm, Kathleen Woodward, Ross Ashley, Allison Carlson, Mary-Catherine Silver, Lilly Tolve, Courtney Roy and Nadine Roy, and her 14 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Oliver J. Tolve, Sr. and her son Oliver J. Tolve, Jr.
