Born on March 3, 1943, in Maysville, Georgia, Hilda was the cherished daughter of the late Watson Mintz and Bessie Hooper Mintz. She grew up in a close-knit family that included her late brothers, Pete Mintz and Gene Mintz, as well as her deceased sisters, Mary Helen Hinsley, Joyce Mason Denton, and Texas Mintz Hortman. Hilda's gentle spirit and caring heart stood out even in her youth, shaping her into the nurturing matriarch she would become.
In her personal life, Hilda shared a deep bond with her husband, the late Lewis Ward. Together, they created a loving home that embraced family values and the joys of life. Hilda is survived by her daughter Teresa Brock, who has been a source of pride and joy for her mother, along with one grandchild, further extending Hilda's legacy of love.
Hilda's contributions as a homemaker were not merely about maintaining a household; they reflected her commitment to family and her innate ability to make every moment special. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support will remain etched in the hearts of those who knew her.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Ivie Funeral Home in Commerce, Georgia, at a visitation on January 6, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service in Hilda’s honor will follow on January 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM, also at Ivie Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Anderson Mintz Cemetery in Maysville, GA.
