Hilton Alden Dow of Magnolia, Delaware, passed away Saturday, November 1st, 2025. He was 85.
He was born September 22nd, 1940, in Newport, Maine to the late Ward Hilton Dow and Lena May Cookson.
Hilton was a proud retired machinist mate, having worked for Scott Paper Company in Skowhegan, Maine, and later for Kimberly Clark in Dover, Delaware. Above all, he was a devoted family man who cherished time spent with the people he loved. He enjoyed going to church, traveling, and listening to gospel and country music. You could often find him in his garage, tinkering, fixing, or creating something new. In his younger years, Hilton had an adventurous spirit. He loved flying, scuba diving, and was passionate about cars. His prized possession was his '31 street rod, which was his pride and joy, and truly his baby.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Ernest Dow and Marion Dow-Elkins, his son, Christopher Dow, his stepsons, Gregory Veilleux and Gary Veilleux, and his step grandchild, Zackary Rickell.
Hilton is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Shelby Jean Dow; his children, Robert Dow, Virginia Joslyn, Christina Hilt, and Rebecca Dow; his stepchildren, Russel Veilleux, Frankie Dale Rife, Jeannie Rash, Brenda Veilleux, Bryan Veilleux, and Barry Hearin; his grandchildren, Marshall Roberson, Tanya Dow, Jessica Dow, Nicholas Dow, and Amanda Joslyn; his step grandchildren, Dr. Tiffany Rife-Oman, Stephanie Hearin, Stacy Rash Emory, Jason Rash, Derek Veilleux, Angie, Veilleux, Danielle Veilleux, Nicole Veilleux, Melissa Veilleux, and Jennifer Rickell ; his great grandchildren, Charles Prough Jr, Alden Dow, Cameron Dow, Zeus Joslyn, and Elias Joslyn; and his step great grandchildren, Colton Rife, Seldon Rife-Oman, Savanna Rickell, and Logan Rickell MyKenzie Veilleux, Georgia Porter, Donovan Porter, Alizay Walker, and Brooklyn Walker.
Funeral services will be held 12:00pm, Wednesday November 5th, 2025, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, Delaware. Friends and family may gather one hour prior. Interment will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Camden, Delaware.
