TSgt. Hiram William Davis, USAF (Retired), was the only son of the late Mr. James Andrew Davis and Mrs. Ethel Jones Davis. He was born December 13, 1935, in Aragon, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Mrs. Jewel Smith, Mrs. Margaret Ramey, and Mrs. Nellie Campbell Moore.

Hiram was educated in the Rome City Schools and graduated from Main High School, Class of 1954. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954 and served tours in Germany, the Philippines, Vietnam, and several bases within the United States. His specialty was Jet Engine Mechanics. After twenty-three years of service, he retired and attended Coosa Valley Technical College, where he was certified as a carpenter, electrician, and woodcrafter.

He designed and constructed a vessel in the shape of a church that is used to collect church tithes. These vessels are located at the altar in several churches. He also designed the memorial plaque that is in the entryway of Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

Hiram enjoyed the "Shepherd's Chapel Bible Study" program on television. His hobbies included fishing, auto repairs, and telling military jokes. He smoked his pipe with Sir Walter Raleigh tobacco for about fifty years.

He entered into Holy Matrimony with Mrs. Martha Price Davis on December 15, 1979, at Holsey-Sinai C.M.E. Church, Rome, Georgia. They are the proud parents of Ms. Sonjaretta Ellis, Ms. Vannessa Hames, Jonathan Sr. (Shayla Goode), and Ms. Fransizka Goode, who preceded him in death January 15, 2014.

Hiram regretfully transitioned on January 29, 2026, at Advent Medical Center after he succumbed to declining health.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years; his children; nine grandchildren: Katiere, Davon, Alvin, Jonique, Jala, Sonalice, Alexis., Teralice (Darrien), and Jonathan Jr.; twelve great-grandchildren: Mikayla, Chileaya, Keathan, Charles Jr., Kennedi, Skylar, Amari, Audrey, Amir, Jona, Kole, and Gianni; one great-great-grandchild, Jade; sister-in-law, Ms. Penny Dodds; brother-in-law, Willie (Ismenia) Malone.

Nieces and nephews include: Linda Davis, Stanley, Porsha, Scarlett, and Alexus; Ruby Fletcher; Frankie (Lisa); Whitney; LaVar (Tameka); Sandra Hudson (Hugh Don); Kenneth; Rashunda (Johnny); Shana , Shikeen; Shakeria and Shemi; Patricia Owens; Charles Smith (Gail); Gerald Campbell (Tina); Clarence Campbell (Clara); Trevail (Laura); and Trevor (Brooke) and several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services celebrating his life will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church located at 445 East 14th Street Rome, GA 30161. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens at 2549 Shorter Ave. Rome, GA 30165.

The family will be receiving friends at his sister's residence at 1701 Olmstead St. SW Rome, Ga 30161.
