Bubba Colllins, 82, of Okeechobee passed away peacefully, September 7, 2025, at Hospice of Okeechobee.
Bubba was born and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida, to Hobart Collins, Sr. and Celia Collins. Bubba attended St. Ann's Catholic School where he was a standout athlete in football and baseball, baseball however, was where his true passion lay. His talent on the field was either on the pitcher's mound or at 1st base. Bubba was also a standout on the American Legion baseball team. Bubba also spent many years coaching in Lake Park and for JTAA in Jupiter/Tequesta.
Bubba was also a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps for 8 years, being Honorably Discharged as an E-5 Sergeant.
Bubba started his lifetime career as a salesman in lumber and building materials to the Caribbean Islands at Lainhart and Potter. After over 50 years in the business Bubba retired, owning Palm Beach Lumber and Export for over 30 years.
Bubba's true passions in life were either on the water, boating, sailing, fishing or in the woods hunting.
Bubba was preceded in death by a sister, Elise Lenihan; niece, Charlene Burgess; and his parents, Hobart Sr. and Celia Collins.
Bubba is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 32 years, Mary Rambo Collins; son, Robert Collins; daughters, Julie Kaplan (Steve) and Denise Marx (Brian); stepchildren, Daniel Derringer, Jr., Bonnie McGrath (Jim) and Sandy Bierschwal (Joe). Bubba was also the proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Bubba also leaves a lifetime of friends behind.
Bubba's wishes were to be cremated and to have a private scattering of his ashes by his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office animal shelter.
