Holger A. Jambor

Bloomington - Holger A. Jambor (Hoagie), 79, of Bloomington passed away on Tuesday January 20, 2026 following a long illness. He was born in Hamburg, Germany April 2, 1946 a son of the late Hans Alfred and Wilma G. Walz Jambor. Hoagie came to the United States in 1954 and lived in the Bronx and New Jersey prior to coming to Bloomington. He joined the US Air Force and served from 1965 to 1969 attaining the rank of Sergeant. He worked as a welder on the twin towers and later a corrections officer at Eastern Correctional Facility in Naponoch, retiring January 31, 2007.
Hoagie was a member of Rosendale - Tillson American Legion Post 1219. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, hunting, fishing, and camping at Chincoteague, Virginia and Lake Sacandaga. Hoagie was an avid chess player and especially loved his dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gabriele Hartmann Jambor, two sons, Brian Jambor (Cheryl) and Michael Jambor (Jessica Shaw) and 5 grandchildren, Logan, Hunter, Autumn, Shyanne Jambor and Rylan Peterson. Also survived by a brother, Peter Jambor.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother Hans Jambor, a nephew Thomas Jambor and a grandson Chase Jambor.
Hoagie was a large part of his family and friends life and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday January 28 from 4 to 6 PM at the George J, Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. At 6 PM following visitation American Legion Post 1219 and representatives from the US Air Force will conduct Military Honors. Immediately following Rev. Charles Stickley will officiate his funeral service. Cremation was held privately.
