Homer Lee Courson, age 71, passed away peacefully at his home on October 19, 2025. He was born in Pierce County on July 08,1954, to the late Charles Clifford Courson and Louise Dixon Courson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Timothy Stevens; his stepmother, Iris Durrance Courson; seven brothers, Harry and Larry Courson, Aaron "Cotton" Durrance, Clyde, David, Harold and Lamar Durrance; four sisters, Lera Hyers, Ora Lee Hagan, Roselyn Lovell, and Lee Courson Carroll.

He was a long-time member of Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathy Wisse Courson; daughters, Melissa Lewis(Andy) and Tina Stevens, both of Alma; seven grandchildren, Anna Crapps(Jed), Ethan Lewis, Hunter Roberson(Julee), Tyler Roberson(Taylor), Ava and Ella Lewis, and Jasper Stevens; one great-grandchild, Will Crapps; two brothers, Howard Courson("Mickey") of Monticello, FL and Glynn Durrance(Carolyn) of Alabama; one sister, Linda Palmer(Al) of Blackshear.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church at 2 P.M. with Rev. Michael McClintock and Rev. Wayne Miracle officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Level Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the church from 1 PM until service time.

Active pallbearers will include Ethan Lewis, Kelly Hyers, Scotty Hyers, Kevin Sears, Zach Sears, and Danny Courson.

All in attendance will be considered honorary pallbearers.
