He also attended grade school at Salem Lutheran Day School, and received his GED High School Diploma from Crystal Lake Community High School. After his marriage to Ruth Mangels, also of Farrar, Missouri, Ruth and Homer moved to Crystal Lake, Illinois.

Homer was the local “Culligan Man” in Crystal Lake for 42 years, retiring in 1996. Homer’s long life was made possible, and was improved, with a vast supportive family of older and younger members and school children of Immanuel Lutheran Church and School.

Homer is survived by his and Ruth’s three children and following generations – Steve (Barb) Verseman, Scott Verseman, and Susan (Stuart) Klein; grandchildren Jotham (Mairen) Klein and Hanna Klein; and great grandchild Imogen Klein. He was a Step Grandfather to Elizabeth Tobin Withers, Brian (Rory) Tobin, and Bobby (Kendall) Tobin and a Step Great Grandfather to Luke, Max, and Alexandria Withers and Barron, Riley, Blisk, and Musial Tobin.
