Honora "Susie" M. Blackwell, 83, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away on August 21, 2025, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Elbert D. Blackwell, parents; Alice and Jack Dickerson, brothers; Tommy Giller and Bart Dickerson and nephew; Joshua Dickerson.
Susie is survived by son; Andrew (Jill) Blackwell, daughters; Laura (Steven) VanZandt and Trish (Nelson) Wells, grandchildren; Lars VanZandt, Elliott (Rae) VanZandt, Brooke (Tim) Wong, Nelson (Leah) Wells, Taylor (Nicholas) Smith and Dalton (Trinity) Wells, granddogs; Bella, Penny and Sampson, great-grandchildren; Sage, Lizzy, Ellie, Yarrow, Jane, Nelson 3rd and Nicholas, sisters and brothers; Robin Davis, Russell (Teri) Dickerson, Sharon Freeman, Jackie File, Joe (Janeen) Dickerson, Gloria (Steve) Durbin, Kevin (Shonna) Dickerson, Janice (Kevin) Simburger, Donna (Don) Thorn and many nieces and nephews.
Susie was a loving and very generous person who always put everyone's needs above herself. She was a strong woman of God and was a blessing to all who came across her path.
She loved sewing baking and planting flowers.
She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, National Kidney Foundation or to the American Diabetes Association.
Visitation will be held 10:00am-1:00pm, Friday, August 29, 2025, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, August 29, 2025, from the chapel of Sunset Hill Funeral Home and will be conducted by Pastor Kevin Simburger of the Mt. Olive Methodist Church in Mt. Olive, Illinois.
The family is being served by Sunset Hill Funeral Home, 50 Fountain Drive, Glen Carbon, Illinois 62034 (618) 656-3220.
