Hope Bailey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin on Feb. 24, 2026.
Hope (Terhune) Bailey, 90, of Franklin died on Thursday, February 12 at Milford Gardens following a long illness. Her illness was exacerbated by the recent passing of her beloved husband of 64 years - Roger Bernard Bailey. She is survived by her son Douglas Bailey and several nieces and nephews.

Born in Needham Heights, Massachusetts on August 19, 1935 to Howard and Catherine (McCallum) Terhune. She was raised in Needham and lived most of her adult life in Franklin, MA.

She was predeceased by her brother Robert Terhune.

After graduating from Needham High, she worked in the insurance business. She met the love of her life at age 25 - another Needham High graduate. She and Roger married in 1960 and they were devoted to each other throughout their long marriage. When Roger turned toward the insurance business for work, Hope used her knowledge and experience to guide him to the company that offered the best treatment of their workers. They supported one another in many ways, and were usually found together. They were also devoted to their son.

They were long-time active members of the Franklin Federated Church. Hope proudly made cranberry sauce from scratch for annual church suppers and contributed many recipes to the church cookbooks. She was an artist and painted beautiful landscapes which decorated their home in Franklin and were shared with family members and friends.

Hope's life will be celebrated during Sunday worship at the Franklin Federated Church, 171 Main St., Franklin, at 10 a.m. on March 8, followed by refreshments. Her paintings will be on display.

Arrangements are under the care of the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
