Horace Forman Jr.

Horace Forman, Jr. a loving father, proud grandfather, and decorated Vietnam War Veteran, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, at the age of 78.
Born on August 13, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Carrie (Young) and Horace Forman Sr., Horace was the oldest of four children. Horace was raised on the timeless values of duty, honor, and service - principles that became the foundation of his life. He carried the pride and strength of his family name with grace and integrity throughout his life. A proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Horace embodied perseverance, leadership, and love - qualities that left an enduring mark on all who knew him. These guiding beliefs shaped his journey from a spirited young man in New Orleans to a distinguished military serviceman.
In 1966, at the age of 19, Horace answered the call of duty and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served his country with courage and distinction during the Vietnam War, exemplifying the honor and resilience that defined his character. As a Marine, he earned the Sharpshooter Qualification - a testament to his focus, discipline, and precision under pressure. His dedication and bravery were recognized through several honors, including the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal - each symbolizing his sacrifice, valor, and unwavering commitment to the nation he so proudly served.
Above all else, Horace was a family man. He is survived by his brother Archie Forman (Jennifer), sister Delores Blackwell; his six children - Terry Thomas (Ronald), Ashanti Forman, Cassandra Forman, LaToya Forman, Horace Forman, and Larissa Forman; thirteen grandchildren - D'Antoine Cheatham, Sterling Smith Jr., Sabian Smith, Timaya Forman, Michael Wickliff III, Alexis Harness, Haziah Forman, Hassan Forman, Hiram Forman, Harlem Forman, Leonard Hartford, Jr., La'Nae Hartford, and La'jea Hartford; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews who will forever carry forward his legacy. His wisdom, his steady guidance, and the love he so freely gave will be missed beyond measure.
A funeral service with full military honors will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 10 am at Professional Funeral Home1449 N Claiborne Ave New Orleans, LA 70116.
