Derek Thomas Ducoing

Derek Thomas Ducoing, a cherished soul known for his loving, kind, and gentle nature, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, in New Orleans, LA, at the age of 56. Born on October 6, 1969, to the late Richard Bono and Jean Heirsch Ducoing (Sturges).

A graduate of Michigan State University, Derek earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, which paved the way for a successful career. His sharp mind for business was matched only by his generous heart, which he readily extended to all who knew him.

Derek was a man of many passions, with a deep love for horse racing and football. His enthusiasm for these sports was only matched by his love for being in the company of his family and friends. He was a pillar of strength and support, always ready with a helping hand.

Derek leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his beloved partner of 13 years, Candace McNab, and his daughters, Tristan Ducoing and Emily Vera. His presence will also be profoundly missed by his loyal fur companions, Brownie and Clyde, who were a constant source of joy and comfort to him.

He is survived by his father, Sturges Ducoing, his brother, Dean Ducoing (Rachel), and his nieces and nephew, Erica Ducoing Hawkins, Candice Ducoing, and Blake Ducoing. Derek's extended family, including numerous cousins from the Bono family.

Derek's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of love, kindness, and gentle strength. As we bid farewell to Derek Thomas Ducoing, we celebrate the profound impact he had on the lives of those around him. Derek's memory will be treasured forever in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124, followed by a Catholic Service at 1:00 pm.
