Howard W. Anderson, 94, of Fayetteville, PA passed away Monday, September 29, 2025, in Gensis Gettysburg Center, Gettysburg, PA. Born January 22, 1931, in Wild Rose, WI, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Myrle (Arveson) Anderson.
Following his graduation from the University of Wisconsin (Oshkosh) with a bachelor's degree in mathematics, Howard went on to serve with the United States Navy from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1957. Howard briefly taught geometry at White Fish Bay High School in Wisconsin. Howard was employed as an IT manager for General Electric, retiring after 37 years.
Howard was currently a member of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chambersburg. He formerly was a 30-year member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Silver Spring, MD and Mount Morris Lutheran Church, Mount Morris, WI. Howard enjoyed singing and was part of the Mercersburg Choir. More than anything he will be remembered as a loving husband and father.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kathleen (Shogren) Anderson who he married June 24, 1961; two children, Douglas Anderson of Fayetteville, PA and Karen Anderson Ollom (Jeffrey) of Great Mills, MD; four grandchildren, Noah Anderson (Jennifer), Hannah Anderson, Joshua Anderson, and Olivia Anderson; and sister, Mildred Johnson.
Services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, October 6, 2025 in St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2695 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Pastor Christopher Frye officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday morning in the church.
Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church at the above address or to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
