Douglas U. Fischer, 70, of Chambersburg, PA went to be with his Lord, Sunday, September 28, 2025, in the Mercy House of Chambersburg. Born May 10, 1955, in Passaic, NJ he was the son of the late Alvin and Janice (Ubil) Fischer.
He was a graduate of William Allen High School, Allentown, PA with the Class of 1973. Doug then went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Bucknell University in 1977 and his master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1983. Throughout his career as a computer engineer, Doug was employed by Mack Truck, IBM, and Lockheed Martin until his retirement.
Doug was a faithful member of the Grace Baptist Church, Chambersburg. He enjoyed playing chess and bridge, golfing, and reading. He was also an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janice Yerkes Fischer who he married September 2, 1978; four children, Micah Fischer (Kim) of Hampstead, MD, Hannah Sandham of Cleveland, OH, Zachary Fischer (Sara) Stewartstown, PA, and Benjamin Fischer of Maryland; five grandchildren, Joshua Fischer, Alex Fischer, Zuzu Sandham, Isabella Fischer, Clara Fischer; and two siblings, Cindy Fischer-Gatto (Lou) and Bruce Fischer.
Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 4, 2025, in Grace Baptist Church, 2475 McCleary Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Elder C. Kenneth Shannon officiating. Burial will follow in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg. Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday morning in the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either Providence Christian Academy, 474 Grant Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to Mercy House, 730 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
