Howard (Bill) William Bennett Jr, 82, departed this life at his home on October 11, 2021. Born October 1, 1939 in Salisbury, MD, He was the son of the late Howard William Bennett Sr. and Edna Shores Bennett.
Bill grew up working with his family business, Howard Bennett & Son's on various construction projects and in the trucking industry.
In 1983, himself along with his father and brother founded Bennett Construction Inc. of Fruitland, where they did land clearing,
demolition, septic systems and civil site work. Always interested in Aviation, he built and opened Bennett Airport in 1972. With over 6,000 hrs logged as Pilot in Command in various aircraft. He had a love for flying and restoring vintage WWII aircraft, finishing his last AT-6 in 2017.
Bill was a member of countless organizations including Delmarva Antique Truck Historical Society, Antique Automobile Club of
America where he would show off his numerous pristine restored vehicles all over the east coast. Eastern Shore Seagulls, where he enjoyed gathering with friends at campgrounds for weekends and especially his winter trips to Florida. And Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
Bill is survived by his wife Eileen Bennett; brother, David Bennett (Jeanette), two daughters, Judy Bennett (Fruitland), Jean Bennett (Salisbury); Grandsons, Kyle Kinnamon (Lindsay), John Kinnamon (Kelly) ; Granddaughter, Holly Adrion (Scott); Nephew Bruce Giordano, and longtime friend Dave Barrett.
Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday October 19, 10:00 am at Springhill Memorial Gardens in Hebron, MD. Family and friends may gather ½ hour prior.
The family would like to thank all the private and professional caregivers that have provided for Bill with their kindness and
attention in recent months.
