Howard Lloyd Bezzant, 66, passed away February 7, 2024 at his home in Lindon, Utah. He was surrounded by his children and his loving wife Jodi.
Howard was born November 24, 1957 to Clifford and Ruth Bezzant. He was raised in Pleasant Grove, Utah, as the oldest of 10 children. He had a wonderful childhood roaming the fields and foothills, and picking and peddling fruit from his family orchard. He was an Eagle Scout, and enjoyed school and had many friends.
He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Leeds, England. He had many life-long friendships with his companions and people he taught on his mission.
He married his sweetheart, Jolene (Jodi) Monson, on August 24, 1979 in the Salt Lake Temple. He and his wife shared 44 wonderful years together. They had 5 children and 10 grandchildren, whom he loved with his whole heart. He was a creative man all of his life. He designed and built two wonderful homes in Pleasant Grove where he and Jodi raised their children. He loved living near so many family and friends in "Bezzant Grove." He looked forward to taking family vacations every year, and was the best at planning them and finding fun and interesting things to see everywhere we went. No matter where we traveled, he always seemed to run into someone he knew.
He was a tender caretaker for his daughter Ali who had special needs. He always treated her with love and respect. He knew just how to make her smile, laugh, or feel comforted. He and Jodi were a true team, and they never complained about the late nights and early mornings taking care of her together.
Howard loved sharing his love of the outdoors with his family. He knew a little bit about everything, and loved sharing his knowledge with others. He loved teaching his grandkids to watercolor, taking them fishing, and sharing the fruit from his fruit trees with them. He always appreciated a good pun, and sharing a funny story with his family. He was a comedian at heart, and making people laugh always made his day.
Howard received his Associates Degree from Utah Technical College, and his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Utah State University. He always encouraged his kids to get a good education, and was happy that they each received a college degree.
Howard worked as a firefighter for the Forest Service, as a draftsman for Southam & Warburton, but his true passion was teaching. He taught for 29 years, at Bingham and Riverton High Schools (where his students affectionally called him "Bezz"), and finished his career as an Associate Professor at Utah Valley University. He was a National Board Certified Teacher, and was highly esteemed and loved by his colleagues and students alike. He recognized, loved, and encouraged each individual and helped them gain the confidence and skills to be successful. He spent many hours coaching the VICA and Skills USA teams at his schools, and enjoyed seeing them succeed.
He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and loved his Savior and the gospel. He served in many callings, including a counselor in the bishopric, ward and stake young men's organizations, high councilor, and temple worker. His favorite calling was Scoutmaster for the special needs mutual. He showed his testimony of our Savior in every interaction he had.
His favorite titles were husband, dad, and grandpa. He loved being with his family, traveling, and taking care of his fruit trees. Everyone that met him went away feeling loved and cared for. He was always finding ways to serve others, even in his briefest interactions.
He valiantly and courageously fought liver cancer, even expressing his gratitude for the things he learned from it and the relationships that were strengthened during this time. He kept his sense of humor and his desire to care for his family until the very end. We are especially grateful for the love and care shown by his nurse Courtnee, and aide Leo.
He is survived by his wife Jolene (Jodi), children Mica Humes, Matt (Cami) Bezzant, Aubrie (Corey) Shaw, and Krista (Cody) Frampton, 10 grandchildren, and siblings James Bezzant, Karla Kennedy, Diane Ogborn, Kathryn Bezzant, Kristin Calder-Watson, Dale Bezzant, and Rachel Bezzant. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Alison, parents Clifford and Ruth Bezzant, and siblings Laura Kleinman and Arlen Bezzant.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Lindon Central Stake Center, 56 East 600 North, Lindon. Family and friends may attend a viewing Monday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Tuesday from 9:30-10:45 am prior to funeral services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Primary Childrens Hospital or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Fund.

I worked with Howard at Bingham and
Riverton High.
Howard was THE kindest, most thoughtful, friendly and most sincere individual I have ever known. He was positive and upbeat. He was always smiling and had a way of making everyone feel they were the most important person on the planet. He had us laughing with his jokes and puns.
Always a gentleman from opening doors to offers of help in anyway possible.
He truly cared about the students. He wanted them to be successful. He spent tons of time helping them prepare for competitions and careers.
Just a terrific person to have known.
Saddened by his loss. My condolences and sympathy to his family.

I first met Howard when he joined the faculty at Utah Valley University. We had so many things in common with each other which we immediately discovered.
Our missions to England, our age (I'm only a few months older than him), our time at UTC learning the drafting and design trade, fruit trees, and of course our love of teaching.

Whenever I asked Howard "How are you?" He always answered "highly favored" which was taken from part of a passage in the Book of Mormon. I loved that response which was filled with positivity and gratitude. He would always run ahead of me to get the approaching door, and was always interested in my personal comfort lending a listening ear and a loving response. I am also grateful for his wise counsel every winter on pruning my fruit trees!

His Christlike example of how to treat others, including a stranger, has impacted my life and helped me to be a better person. What a treasure he is. I will miss associating with him here but look forward to a warm greeting in the next life.

Howard would answer...when I would say, "Thank you", he would reply...."No, thank YOU!"
He would organize our luncheons at Riverton. We hard good conversations together. His aura was always kind and giving. Hope he will see my husband Brent and give him a hug from me.
