Howard William Bresaw, age 83, of Yankton, South Dakota died on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton.
Funeral services are 10:30 AM, on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Jeff Otterman officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton with military honors performed by the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post No. 791 and SD Army National Guard Funeral Honors. Visitation is one hour prior to the funeral at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Tim Kribll, Bill Jensen, Greg Jensen, Jim Sinkie, Casey Weisser and Larry Weisser.
Howard was born September 4, 1942, in Denver, Colorado to Felix and Margaret (Davis) Bresaw. He started grade school in Denver and then the family moved to Williams, MN in 1949 when Howard was in the third grade. He graduated from Williams High School and then joined the United States Army where he served in Germany for three years from 1960 to 1963. Howard married Dorothy Jensen on October 2, 1964, at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Irene, SD. He worked as a carpenter from 1964 to 1981 and then became his own general contractor in Vermillion, SD until 1986. That same year, Howard and Dorothy moved to Yankton and Howard worked in the maintenance department and then in warehouse and delivery for the Yankton Public Schools until he retired in 2007. Howard loved history and enjoyed reading and watching documentaries on American history and World War history. He also enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing.
Howard is survived by one nephew, four nieces, and many friends.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy on May 1, 2019; and an infant brother and sister.
